Always Keep Quilting
                            Quilt Preparation

Do not pin or baste the layers together.  All layers should be separate.

Quilt Top
- Indicate the top of the quilt with a safety pin.  This is especially
important if the quilt is directional
- Square all outside edges
- Press all seams and borders
- Trim all threads (including on wrong side of quilt top)

Backing
- If backing is pieced, please use a 5/8" seam allowance and press seam
open.  You may piece the backing seam in either a horizontal or vertical
direction

- Remove all selvages and press
- Backing should be at least
3" longer and wider on each side than quilt
top
- Square all edges and mark top of backing with a safety pin
(Cost to piece backing - $10 per seam)

Batting
- Should be at least 3" longer and wider on each side than quilt top
- Batting can be purchased through Quilting by the Yard, where we can
help you select a batting that will best be suited for your quilt  You may
contact Quilting by the Yard at 860-896-1056 or contact Laura at
